The Best Hip Hop Album of 2013 so far is.....

There was an unexpected rumble that came from the world of hip hop. A bit of noise came from the long awaited debut from French Montana in the form of "Excuse My French" in April. While Frenchie didn't set the world ablaze it was a nice addition to all of the hip hop albums of 2013. The landscape urban music began to shake and scream when the release dates of Wales's , Kanye West's Yeezus, J. Coles's Born Sinner became public. The final quake came when Jay's Magna Carta Holy Grail made headlines by already being platium by shipping a million units to Samsung Galaxy owners before its retail relasre date. Only two weeks after Jay dropped we even had Tony Touch and Ghost face Killa dropped albums. This leads me to the topic at hand which album is the best of 2013 so far. While any other year any of the mentioned might've been tops. This is the year that Jay Z decided to drop and album and remind everyone who is hip hops king.

I've heard extreme amounts of hate towards this album. I get it hate what you ain't, hate his talk of power, how he talks about women, hate what you perceive to be his religion or lack of. Talk about his wife like you know her go ahead.  Whatever all I know is out all the albums that have released, by my count 16 albums releases that can be considered as great hip hop albums. Artists like Kid Cudi, Lil Wayne, Papoose, Talib Kweil, Tyga, even Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y did a joint album. However Jay got all of the out of our  iPods, playlists, and how ever else you listen to music bumping Magna Carter Holy Grail. When Justin Timberlake come in on the first track singing, "You take the clothes off my back, and Id let you'd steal the food right out of my mouth" with the mic letting out a high pitched whine as he hits a high octave. You know you are in for a high stakes ride for a tale that is about one man's unprecedented success. When JayZ admits that he is mad at the melodrama that comes with fame but he loves it at the same time by saying, "Goddamn i like it bright lights enticing look what that did to Tyson"

This is one of those albums that everyone will have a different track they really like, my track is "Picasso Baby", this Timbaland produced song is the introduction to the high art life that is being mixed with the Brooklyn born drug dealer. When Jay stats "I just want a Picasso in my cassa, no my castle I'm a hassa no I'm a asshole", you get the feeling that if he doesn't own a Picasso painting he will. It's this drive for the ultimate expression of utter success that is the engine for the album. There are more tracks I could break down but that would be facetious, I want to get into why I picked this album

J. Cole could have got my first mid annual best of the year award but he got lazy towards the end of his album. Wale turned in a good album but it wasn't great. Kanye might have the creativity and innovation but it didn't compare to the meteor crater that JayZ's album left on me and all my family and friends.

"Sleeping every night next to Mona Lisa the modern day version with better features yellow Basquiat in the kitchen corner go head blue lean on that shit you on it"

Indeed Jay..... Indeed tell Blue to lean on it. You just don't own priceless art you own Hip Hop again as well. -thegqlife

NBA Mock Drafts for 2014, 2015, and 2016

The 2014 Mock Draft

1. Andrew Wiggins
What do you get when your cross Kobe Bryant's handle and jumper with a hybrid of Tracy Mcgrady's and Lebron James's athleticism mixed in with number 23's ability to be just better than everyone on the floor you get Andrew Wiggins. I'm not exaggerating or amping him up. I told many about Lebron James and we all see how that turned out.
This young man is the real deal period.

2.  Marcus Smart
People have been waiting for a Dwayne Wade clone, while many have pegged Victor Oliadepo as that,(I have Victor as more of Westbrook type). Smart is strong, fast, and plays defense well.  He is an explosive leaper

3.  Jabari Parker
Everyone
is saying Carmelo Anthony. I saw him in the High School Dunk Contest I say Grant Hill is where his ceiling is...

4. Aaron Gordon
Imagine Blake Griffin was adept at defense and you get Aaron Gordon

5.  Julius RandlePower and a handle this is at 1 pick any other year

6. and 7. The Harrison Twin each of them can play either guard spot and if your the Boston Celtics you can start really fresh if you use your drafts on having twins in the back court for Brad Stevens to tinker...

8. Kuran Iverson, Yes this is Allen Iverson's cousin yes but he is 6'8 and has a bounce in his game. He is going to be at Memphis Univeristy this fall. We've seen this before Penny, Tyreke Evans, Derrick Rose all Memphis guards hybrids all wig bounce you get him at 8 your laughing.

9.  Chris Walker, Power Forward woth a face up game could go number 1 any year as well. (At this point if this draft class depth isn't  you dunk)

The 2015 Mock Draft

1. Ivan Rabb, can play either center or power forward. We are going to miss Kevin Garnett however take a look at Ivan Rabb's game and you want even remember KG, this kid is fast and athletic with am post game and plays both dose the ball a rarity in today's AAU driven basketball ethos.

2. Diamond Stone, the second player on this list is also a center or power forward. He might be the closet thing we get to Shaquille O'Neal since Andre Drummond. He can stretch the defense
because he can hit the Nba range three...

The 2016 Mock Draft

1. Seventh Woods
A force has to be seen to be believed. If Derrick Rose never gets to return to MVP form we will get a crack at seeing what he would have gone on in Seventh Woods. The guard that is as fast as as he is strong.

The Last of Us Videogame Review- by thegqlife

What doesn't kill us will make us
stronger confirmed!!!

Okay listen up! This is why I haven't married yet.
Not because I can't commit or any another
jazz! I am not married because I haven't
meet a woman yet that I think I could thrive
with in a end of the world scenario.
There I said it, at some point things
could go down all bad and in turn all
of society burns and chaos is America's
new favorite past time. I've always
wanted a woman who would look at a
zombie outbreak or a pending end of
days and find the glass still half
full anyway. Until I find that one woman
that can make lemonade out of doomsday lemons.
I guess I have the Last of Us video game
created for and only on the Playstation 3
by NAUGHTY DOG.

The Last of Us grips you in it's first 34
seconds that you watch the Joel embark
on his tragic yet stoic journey. As soon as
you begin the game you don't feel like this
is a videogame. This is a razor sharp real
world you are at it has a soul that it traded
it's for a can of vienna saugase. This is life
30 years after a fungal virus  transfers
from insects to humans. The lead
character Joel is now tough and  has a jaw bone that
might give "The Wolverine" a run for
his money. Since the viral outbreak
the entire world  is now basically
lawless and resources are little to zilch.
To top to it all of the virus has filled the
areas outside of the remaining
government quarantine zones with
three type  of versions of virus infected
humans: runners, clickers, and bloaters.
They all represent a different type threat
and on the higher difficulties settings
their ferocity is even more apparent.

The swallows of monsters of the infected
that you encounter are nothing compared
to human beings themselves. At least the
infected are mindless men and women who
can't control themselves. It's mankind
current state that is the real morbid horror
of this game. Things have been jacked up
for over 30 years and people are acting
out accordingly.  Seeing how people
have adjusted is fascinating and not all
at surprising seeing how people act
when their cable television goes out
for a night.

The Last of Us shows us what happens
when games play like a movie but gives you
choices about how you play it. It also
gives me the theory confirmed that the more
distress placed on humans the stronger we
become, so much so the infected in this
game would be afraid of humans if they
knew better.

Jupiter's Legacy Issue #1 Review

So you like the Walking Dead Television show, or Scandal, Arrow, maybe the Vampire Diaries. Have you seen Kick Ass and or Iron Man 3. Well this is for you, some serious next level Superhero stuff with a bit of Atlas Shrugg thrown into it. Jupiter's Legacy is the latest from Mark Millar and Frank Quitley the team that is responsible for current iterations of the Avengers we all now know and love that are now cannon that's used for television, animation, and video games.

The tale that Millar and Quietly brings us takes place in alternate United States of America where Superheroes come and save America from the "Great Depression" as early the 1920's. A man named Sheldon Sampson takes his girlfriend and his close friends to an island outside of Cape Verde that he saw in a dream. In this dream the island says he can save America but coming to it.

The comic moves the story to one hundred years later Sheldon and his sweetheart,(now his wife) and friends are still fighting crime. Things couldn't be better except their kids are spoiled little jerks. These jerks are the true stars of this story.Hence the title of the comic, I am guessing the island is Jupiter and legacy means some children. Sheldon's own prodigies are indulgent screw ups who only really care about endorsements and trying "space drugs". One look at their son Brandon Samspon in his element enjoying his doeses of the double headed hydra of fame and the spoils that it provides, lets you know their parent's pride in country has not been assimilated.Their daughter Chole' ends the first issue comic with an atomic sized dentonation after a dalliance with said space drug...

Jupiter's Legacy is an awesome comic book it pushes the boundaries of Superhero lore past the point of what is a comfortable approach to the genre. I give it 10 out of 10 Planets-thegqlife

Welcome to the GqLife!

Hi! Welcome to my blog first I am Garrick, I created this blog for polymaths and I realize that this may be jarring but people that are polymaths do exist! Most polymaths are women due to them being groomed to become Mothers one day. I think everyone can agree that Moms do multiple things well all the time and invent new and efficient ways to do things. This blog is for them and for those who know there is no real limitation on human expression. Thegqlife will cover everything in the dictionary; first thing I will cover because I am greedy is cooking!

My first post will cover preparing Mother's Day 2013 Breakfast amazingly quick and super cheap. It will post on Saturday, May 11th the day before Mother's Day 2013.

Have a great week out there!

From my mind,

Garrick
